KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Computer Science degree with postgraduate-level training preferred
  • A minimum of 6+ years of ICT-related activities
  • Significant experience in design and development of technology solutions to increase international development project impact with a preference for food security activities
  • Design and management experience with Web-based, database, and mobile applications
  • Ability to lead the ICT technical approach across multiple activities

Data Collectors-Human Resources Assessment Initiatives Inc


Position Description:

Background
The USAID-funded TB TO 2015 project supports the Tanzania National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control' Programme (NTLP) and Zanzibar Integrated HIV/AIDS/ TB and Leprosy Control Programme (ZIHTLP) in 35 districts across the country. As part of its support to the NTLP, TB TO 2015 employs 46 supervision and diagnostics staff including: 35 District Supervisors, 6 Zonal Supervisors and five Central TB Reference Laboratory staff. As the project prepares to hand over to the NTLP, it seeks to assess options to sustain these positions.
TB TO 2015 partner Initiatives Inc. will conduct a human resources assessment. Regional and district data collection for the assessment is scheduled to take place in late October and early November. Data collection will be conducted by two teams of two persons each. Each team will be led by a team leader and supported by a junior data collector. Teams will conduct interviews, record information on data collection forms, and enter information into assessment databases.

Complete all data collection forms
Review forms for completeness and accuracy
Submit completed data collection forms to the Data Collection Team Leader for review and submission.
Communicate problems or issues to the Team Leader
Participate in data entry
Participate in debriefing meetings to share findings and information not captured by the data collection tools.
Location and duration of activities
Data collection will take place in a sample of project and NTLP supported regions and districts across Tanzania. An estimate of 9 regions and 27 districts are expected to be covered. Data collection teams will be in the field collecting data for approximately 2.5 weeks. All team leaders and data collectors will be required to undergo a training prior to the start of data collection.
Timeline
The schedule is tight and it is expected that some travel will be required on the weekends. Up to 15 Days will be required for this assignment.
Qualifications
A master's degree in public health, business administration or related field (can be working toward masters)
Knowledge of Tanzanian Health systems
Some research experience, particularly experience conducting interviews, recording responses on interview forms and doing data entry.
Fluent speaking and reading skills in both English and Swahili
Fluent English writing skills
Knowledge of MS office platforms including Excel MS Access preferred.
