Duties and Responsibilities:
-Conduct inspection and supportive supervisions of health facilities.
-Deals with verification and checking of prescriptions.
-Makes researches or market surveys with a view to establishing the actual costs for services, medicines, pharmaceutical items and other medical consumables.
-Initiates accreditation processes for health facilities.   
-Addresses issues related to management of clinical cases or quality aspects. Ensures that the National and Professional Standard Treatment Guidelines and I the Fund's policies, regulations, procedures and standards are adhered to by services providers.
-Attends and addresses members enquiries and complaints
-Attends clinical meetings in accredited facilities

-Communicates the risk management policy. risk management strategy and risk management implementation plan to all stakeholders in the Fund; Continuously conducts risk management process towards best practice; Coordinates risk assessment at corporate/directorates/department/division business unit on a regular basis;
-Assists in developing and implementing risk responses for each identified material risk;
-Participates in the development of the combined assurance plan for the institution. together with internal audit and management.
-Provides information to facilitate overall risk management improvement within the Fund.
-Continuously transfers risk management principles and practices. through training interventions to all stakeholders within the Fund.
-Advises in the development of financing structures.

Position Description:
Duties and Responsibilities
-To monitor and evaluate progress of construction works of the Fund's Projects, and supervise all civil and structural components of the projects on behalf of the employer;
-To make sure that the work by the Contractor and consultant is being carried out to the employers standards, specifications and schedule, thus ensuring correctness of the material used as well as workmanship that will guarantee quality work and value for money used; .
-To interpret relevant drawings and written instructions;
-To make visual inspections of the projects;
-To take measurements and samples on the site soas to make sure that the work and materials meet the specifications and quality standards;
-To comply with health and safety regulations and inform the employer and the concerned on the shortfalls observed;
-To keep detailed records of various aspects of work and prepare periodic reports highlighting progress and delays, number and type of works employed, weather conditions, visitors to the site, drawings received, deliveries, instructions and any Significant event;
-To convey meetings convened by project Manager;
-To check and verify levels and other surveys carried out by contractor's surveyor;
-To check the setting of the proposed buildings, external works, parking areas, drainage channels in conjunction with project Architect;
-To take samples for testing of aggregates, reinforcement. sand, concrete blocks and other materials at the direction of the project manager;
-To check reinforcement works before casting;
-To inspect concrete works during casting to ensure quality of mixes;
-To ensure that only approved materials are delivered and used on site
-Ensuring that instructions issued by the consultants are implemented accordingly;
-To ensure that construction work schedules are maintained

Qualifications and Experience
-Degree in civil/structural Engineering from a recognized institution/University Registered with Engineers Registration Board as a professional Engineer
-A minimum of ten years experience in supervision of buildings/Civil Engineering works

Regional Scientist on Agricultural Systems Intensification

Regional Scientist on Agricultural Systems Intensification (Ref: R4D/RS-ASI/12/13)

Background: The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) invites applications for the position of Regional Scientist on Agricultural Systems Intensification.
IITA is an international non-profit research-for-development (R4D) organization created in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and supported primarily by the Consultative Group of International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our R4D is anchored on the development needs of sub-Saharan Africa. We develop agricultural solutions with our partners to tackle hunger and poverty by reducing producer and consumer risks, enhancing crop quality and productivity, and generating wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa. Under the formal supervision of the Central Africa hub Director and the plant production and health Director, and under the day-to-day supervision of the DR Congo Country Representative, the Regional Scientist will undertake the following tasks:
  1. Assist in the general management of a project on agricultural systems intensification in D.R. Congo especially in the Maringa-Lopori-Wamba (MLW) landscape in Equateur Province with staff supervision.
  2. Generate, update knowledge and information on the analysis of the production environment, the validation of interventions for intensification and the dissemination of best interventions for crops intensification which should lead to peer publication.
  3. Act as IITA focal scientist for REDD initiatives in DR Congo and surrounding countries of Central Africa. Undertake climate change activities and collaborate with national REDD programs.
  4. Establish and manage ecologically and economically viable protected and community-based natural resource management areas, develop livelihood alternatives through sustainable agriculture as a driver to decrease human pressure on forest.
  5. Submit timely quarterly and annual reports as requested by the supervisor.
  6. Participate actively in resource mobilization for other projects/activities.
  7. Undertake any other duty as requested by the supervisor.
Educational Qualifications:
PhD in Natural Resource Management, Agronomy or related fields with more than two years experience in related fields
Core Competencies:
  • Knowledge and skill in crop production, management and cropping systems.
  • Knowledge in soil-plant relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and publish journal articles.
  • Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Sub-Saharan Africa, especially central Africa.
