The
Opportunity: The Cisco Advanced Services team (AS) is a global
organization charged with providing world-class services to Cisco’s
customer base. As part of this team you will be helping create Cisco’s
concept of the Human Network, by contributing to the success of Cisco's
customers in deploying and utilizing the latest networking technologies.
The
AS team’s primary focus is with Cisco’s premium customers. It operates
in the Plan-Design-Implement (PDI) and Optimize phases of the Network
Lifecycle applying new technologies, in complex design, performance and
optimization services within the largest networks in the world, and led
by some of the best technical experts in the industry.
aNCE Year 1 Responsibilities
• Developing solid knowledge of baseline Advanced Services (AS) skills
•
Developing knowledge as a Network Infrastructure (NI) specialist in
core IP routing and switching and/or Cisco Advanced Technologies.
• Completing technical and professional training during the first 3 months
• Passing CCNA certification exam within first 3 weeks of employment
• Passing the CCNP certification, or equivalent, exams within the first 3 months of employment
• Passing the CCIE written certification, or equivalent, exams within the first 6 months of employment
• Successfully completing 3 formal presentations and 4 written assignments
• Achieving additional certifications testing, such as CCDA & CCDP
• Completing projects and assignments on time to meet customer and team requirements
Long-term aNCE Responsibilities :
• Supporting the delivery of Advanced Services to major accounts
• Reviewing network requirements and producing high and low level network designs
• Reviewing customer Implementation and Change Management Plans
• Planning and executing complex Network Upgrade and Network Migration activities
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies
• Acting as a technical focal point for large account network problem resolution
• Generating reusable Intellectual Capital in the form of standard customer deliverables
• Leveraging and contributing to Virtual Teams
• Challenging ways of working and suggesting improvements and best practice

• Strong computer/network skills with ability to understand technical issues and apply technical concepts
• The ability to leverage technical expertise from multiple sources
• Passion for learning and demonstrated ability for independent study, as well as the ability to work in a team

Education and Eligibility Requirements
• Minimum BS/BA from a 3-4 year technical program
• Degree in Engineering, Information Technologies, Computer Sciences, Physics or Mathematics preferred
• Ability to live and work in the country of your application with no additional VISA sponsorship from Cisco
• Must be fluent in English as well as the native language of the country of your application
• Must be able to begin full time employment on January 27, 2014

SENIOR SYSTEM ENGINEERS- SERVERS AND STORAGE
Reporting to the Practice Lead- Data Centre, the incumbent will
determine the technical solutions architecture according to the
company’s sales strategy.
The Senior Systems Engineer - Servers and Storage will work as a
technical lead with SST sales teams and business partners. The position
will provide the following services: IT infrastructure consulting,
proposal preparation support, technical presentations to customers, and
the analysis and design of SST’s complex products and solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Delivery –
- Working with an implementation team in project implementation and deployment, which may include overseeing elements of the project or team when assigned.
- The engineer may be called on to take over supervision of implementation tasks assigned and working to ensure proper implementation and troubleshooting if necessary.
- Supervising the implementations of Proof of Concepts (POC) in consultation with the team.
- Technical consultancy and recommendations.
Pre-Sales Activities –
- Working on assigned tenders and/or proposals, providing pre-sales support including assisting in solutions design, preparation of Bills of Materials, preparation of client presentations and assisting in client site surveys. All pre-sales tasks will require specialized input as per your skills
Coaching –
- Induction and mentorship of trainees as well as delegated supervisory duties for any students on professional attachment, assigned to the project as assigned by Divisional Manager.
Support -
- Assisting in providing post-sales support after project implementation, which will also include managing any support contracts assigned in consultation with the Team Leader and other senior engineers on the project
- Working with the internal support team on any requirements for equipment or systems that need specialization, including implementation and training
- End User support for contractual customers.
- Troubleshooting customer faults to achieve fault resolution for incidents escalated.
Training & Certifications –
- Undergo continuous technical skills update through certification and trainings are required in the engineer’s training roadmap within timelines set.
Desired Skills and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Required Experience
- B.Sc Computer Science / B.Sc Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Solaris Systems Administration skills is a must
- Knowledge of Servers and Storage Technologies is a must
- 3-6 Years experience in servers and Storage technologies especially Sun/Oracle.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with accounts in complex technical environments.
- Linux/Unix skills
- Cisco Unified Computing Systems experience is an added advantage
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment and decision making
- Project Management experience and certification will be an added advantage.
- Technical Sales experience will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of High Availability and Business Continuity Technologies will be an added Advantage.
