Locally known as the Walter Reed Southern Highlands AIDS Program, the Henry Jackson Foundation Medical Research International (HJFMRI) is an international non-governmental organization working in several countries conducting research studies and providing care and treatment to people. From the American People affected by HIV / AIDS. HJFMRI is funded by the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief PEPFAR. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHSW), HJFMRI has been leading a comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment program in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania since 2004 with support from the President's Emergency Plans for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). The program is based within the Mbeya Referral Hospital and has since extended to more than 100 health facilities in MbeyaRukwa and Ruvuma regions, which collectively represent a catchment area of about 6 million people. Mbeya region is one of high prevalence regions in Tanzania and expansion of HIV care and treatment programs is critical.

PMI Malaria Program Manager at Water Reed Program-Tanzania

Job Summary:
The Malaria PMI Program Manager (PM) will manage subordinate diagnostics and training staff and short-term contract staff in executing current activities and develop future plans and operations. Under the supervision of the MPD the incumbent will manage the in-country PMI malaria program operations by planning coordinating and executing and directing when needed the PMI malaria activities. This incumbent will: develop and write work plans; and coordinate with partnering organizations in the piloting and scale-up of a national malaria diagnostics program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership and managerial support for the Laboratory Coordinator (LC) and Training Coordinator (TC) in the area of malaria diagnostics to implement quality assurance and quality control strategies to improve malaria laboratory practices.
Supervise the PMI team and provide technical assistance for malaria diagnostics.
Support the implementation of improved malaria diagnostics including assisting in field work and promoting the professional development of the WRP-T malaria program staff.

Malaria Program Training Officer at Water Reed Program-Tanzania

Reports to: Malaria program Training Coordinator
Location: Dar es Salaam
General Overview
The Training Officer will be based in Dar es Salaam and directly support the Program Training Coordinator to manage, plan, coordinate and oversee all training activities to be undertaken under theWRP. Under the supervision of the Training Coordinator, the incumbent will support program training operations through a combination of directing, managing, planning, coordination and execution during all scheduled training events. The Training Officer will ensure both trainers and trainees are available for the courses.
In partnership with the MOHSW the Training Officer will assign instructors to conduct training. The Training Officer will be responsible for reviewing /preparing course schedules, supporting the development and running of malaria training at the Zonal training centers, and providing assistance, as requested, to support the NMCP /ZMCP training programs.
The Training Officer will attend meetings and seminars to ensure WPR remains up to date with training trends and methodologies in Tanzania, and to develop networking with other actors. The Training Officer also has a responsibility to monitor instructors during lectures and laboratory demonstrations to evaluate performance.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain records of all training activities.
As appropriate analyze pre- and post-training results and prepare impact analysis reports.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience
A graduate with practical experience in training, evaluation and monitoring.
Minimum of three years of coordination experience including a training component.
Good understanding of adult education principles and practice. Specialist andragogy training would be an advantage.
Excellent communication, both written and oral. and presentation skills. Strong PC skills to include proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint (data entry and data management skills will be an advantage.)
Ability to operate related computer software and training equipment including VCR/DVD player, LCD and/or overhead projector, and other related training aids.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and complete tasks/projects in accordance with stated deadlines.
Facilitation, course delivery or other public speaking experience will be an advantage.
Previous experience as an Executive Assistant before, with a training component will be an added advantage.

General Overview
The purpose of this position is to perform routine laboratory analysis and related tasks. Support the laboratory Coordinator in leading WRP participation of the execution of national level strengthening in malaria test-based diagnostics in coordination with Tanzania Government health bodies and USG Presidential Malaria Initiative (PMI). The incumbent will be expected to relocate to Dar es Salaam. Tanzania and travel to field locations on a regular basis. working evenings and weekends and may involve working with bio hazardous materials.  
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop site strengthening plans, coaching and mentoring;
Provide field level technical assistance for malaria microscopy and mRDT testing sites to develop and support accurate and quality assured malaria diagnostics, and Improves malaria testing practices;
Participate in formal and informal malaria microscopy and MRDT training; Complete projects by assisting Laboratory Coordinator; attending and participating in group and project meetings;
Plan and execute all activities according to relevant legislation and applicable standards;
Resolve problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps;

Work with committees, providing support and undertaking assigned tasks as needed as part of the overall USG effort under PMI.

Advanced Diploma or Diploma in related scientific or laboratory science discipline
At least 3 years laboratory experience       .

PROJECT SUMMARY

Supported by the U.S. Department of Labor’s (USDOL) Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), if selected, IYF will manage a $3 million cooperative agreement to support efforts in Uganda (in up to 19 focus districts: Amuru, Bugiri, Bushenyi, Dokolo, Gulu, Ibanda, Iganga, Isingiro, Kamuli, Kamwenge, Kapchowra, Kasese, Lira, Luwero, Mayuge, Mbale, Pader, Oyam, and Sironko) to address exploitative child labor among youth (ages 15 to 18) by helping them develop marketable skills to secure decent work and serve as civic leaders in their communities. The project will also seek to enhance livelihoods for youth and their households, support civic engagement by youth and encourage youth to take on leadership roles within their communities. This project is intended to serve as a pilot youth empowerment and development initiative that could be replicated in other African countries. The duration of the project is four (4) years. The project start date will be no later than December 31, 2013. IYF is seeking an Education Specialist to support this new project. Hiring for this position will be contingent upon IYF securing funding from USDOL for this activity and USDOL’s approval of the candidate for this position. This position is a local hire position and Ugandan nationals are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads the strategy design and implementation of activities focusing on the promotion of education opportunities for youth between the ages of 15 to 18.
• Leads the capacity building efforts for youth serving institutions in targeted districts who provide educational services to youth vulnerable to or engaged in child labor.
• Develops strategies for promoting access to and continued enrollment, retention, and completion of formal and non-formal education programs and vocational training programs for youth between the ages of 15 and 18 years.
• Manages activities that integrate working and out-of-school children and youth into a quality education (formal or non-formal) or vocational training program.
• Manage the provision of tutoring, scholarships and support services to youth targeted by the program to complete primary or secondary school.
• Develops and/or strengthens partnerships with academic institutions including technical colleges and training institutes that provide vocational and other training opportunities for youth.
• Actively promotes and secures the commitment and ownership of government and other local stakeholders for education services in order to enhance the likelihood that effective services or models will continue beyond the life of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership position responsible for developing education interventions and the technical aspects related to the project, including student assessment, teacher training, educational materials/curriculum development, educational management, and educational monitoring and information systems, as applicable. Experience on a USDOL-funded project strongly preferred.
• Experience in basic and secondary education projects.
• Understanding of child labor issues, including special educational needs of youth removed from child labor when they enter/return to school.
• Experience working with vulnerable children and their households, preferably in Uganda.
• Experience working successfully with Ministries of Education and other government agencies, networks of educators, employers' organizations, and trade unions or comparable entities.
• Must be proficient in both written and spoken English language. Knowledge of local languages preferred. 
• Experience working in the targeted districts in Uganda.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Uganda’s education policies; formal, non-formal, and vocational education systems and programs; and the populations that they are meant to serve.

  • Minimum 2- 5 years’ experience in financial management of a business unit.
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Office tools (access, excel, word) Advantage if with previous experience working with SAP FI module and other finance packages such as Sage/ Pastel or Primavera.

Job Title: Sales / Business Development Manager – Software Solutions
Experience: 7 - 10Years (At least 4+ years in Business Development)
Qualification: Bachelor Degree in IT/ Science and MBA (preferred).
Must know- Local Language (verbal and written)
Nationality-  Tanzanian Citizens / East African citizens residing in TZ
Must Have Skills:
  • Exposure to business / business environment in local/ regional market. Must have successfully achieved sales targets in these regions for IT companies.
  • Excellent Communication and presentation skill. Public speaking traits.
  • Understanding software development lifecycle and be familiar with the offshore model.
  • Hands on experience in carrying out marketing and branding initiatives.
  • Understanding of regulatory aspects and different kinds of statutes (what areas in general influence the regulatory/statutory  aspects so that the person would be able to ask for the right kind of internal / external support in managing contracts, operations etc. for specific country level requirements)
  • Dynamic professionals with sound technical background will also be considered, if they are willing to take up this challenge.

  • Recording of inquiries and sales along with customer details products , release/version number/ license number
  • Reviewing own sales performance;
  • Gaining a clear understanding of customers’ requirements;
  • Making accurate, rapid cost calculations;
  • Feeding with future markets buying trendsand reporting back to employers.
  • Tirelessly prospect new customers to meet and exceed stated sales goals
  • Extend sales opportunities with existing clients.
  • Continually probe client and prospects needs. 
  • Promote the Company offering using direct marketing /channel marketing
