Unix System Administrator

Introduction:

This is a fantastic role, with a rapidly growing, global e-Commerce company, where candidates will be responsible for the management and support of the client’s entire website and infrastructure.

The client’s website is a huge, global product, and is growing by the day, attracting millions of new users. In line with this increased demand, you will be asked with maintaining continual system operations and support.



Key responsibilities:

• Systems management automation of both new and existing systems.
• Performance and stability monitoring of the client’s production systems, using analytical skills to see potential problems early, and solve them
• Working with other systems and database administrators, as well as software developers, to troubleshoot and resolve any problems that arise.
• Using on-the-spot thinking to provide support for the rapid development and deployment of the internal systems and software
• Providing an exceptional service in response to the client’s commercial business requirements;


Key Requirements:

• Good skills in programming with Perl or Python
• You will have the ability to make a big impact and the responsibility to do the right thing;
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, even when there is no initial knowledge of a problem;
• You must have a strong scripting and automation mindset
• Strong skills with Bourne shell scripting;
• Good knowledge of Linux systems administration;
• Experience in systems automation and programming;
• Strong interest in analysing systems for problems with scalability and reliability, and the ability to resolve any of these problems yourself
• Ability to act under pressure with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
• Excellent communication skills to speak with both technical and non-technical colleagues
