Job Description
The School of St Jude is a charity funded school that provides a FREE, high-quality education to over 1,600 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha. St Jude’s has approximately over 1500 visitors a year.
We are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to join our team as the Visitor Program Manager. The Visitor Program Manager will have to work closely with visitors and all departments, so we are looking for an energetic communicator who can effectively manager relationships and has exceptional organisational skills.
A minimum commitment of at least two years is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, support and direct the visitor team in their roles
  • Liaise with the Australian Coordinator regarding, fundraising and merchandise sales
  • Joint working with Marketing Team regarding promotional materials and events
  • Monitoring staff performance and carrying out reviews
  • Manage and review finance procedures required within visitor team and accounts departments
  • Oversee the visitor experience for the school
  • Develop new ways of improving the visitor experience
  • Manage and develop the St Jude’s Tours and Fundraising events
  • Attend and contribute to Business Strategy and Business Group meetings and action any relevant outcomes
  • Review and update pricing structures for tours and events
  • Create new opportunities for visitors to interact with students and staff
  • Provide monthly reports on visitors activities
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
  • Experience in tourism/ event management desirable in East Africa
  • Experience in managing a small team
  • Experience working in an NGO
  • Experience in fundraising campaigns desirable
  • Excellent communication and networking skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated initiative and common sense
Living Allowance:
International volunteers receive a comfortable monthly stipend, which is enough to live on but not enough to fund travel around Africa.

GRANT WRITER
Job Description The School of St Jude is a charity funded school that provides a quality FREE education to approximately 1,600 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha. Additionally, the school now provides employment to over 400 Tanzanians and purchases the essential goods required to run the school everyday from local people. The ripple effect is incredibly wide spread.
We are seeking an individualto join our Marketing Team as the Grant Writer, based in Arusha, Tanzania. The Granter Writer is responsible for conducting research and identifying potential opportunities for funding that the school is eligible to receive.
A minimum commitment of 12 months is required
Key Responsibilities:
  • Research government, international development agencies, foundation and corporate grants
  • Establish and maintain relationships with funders
  • Facilitate, write, review and edit grant applications
  • Gather budget materials for applications and ensure compliance with funding requirements
  • Maintain the Grants section of St Jude’s database (Donor Perfect).Log and track applications and update major donor information
Knowledge, skills & attributes
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Ability to multi task while working on numerous projects at once
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Previous experience with proposal writing
  • Strong computer skills
