Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) is a Government Executive Agency Established by under the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997. Its main function is to promote a good, sound and a healthy working environment by enforcing the Occupational Safety and Health Act. No.5 of 2003 through inspection of work places to detect hazards which can affect the health of workers, conducting medical examination to workers, providing education and conducting training in Occupational Safety and Health. The ultimate goal is to have a healthy worker at a healthy work environment so as to increase productivity.
OSHA is hereby inviting applications from qualified Tanzanian to fill the following posts.

Records Management Assistant (One Post) Head Office

Main Duties
Receive and distribute files to schedule officers
Register all incoming and outgoing documents in Registry
Classifying and filing documents Open file and index cards
To handle issues regarding request of files
Maintain up to date register of office files and file index box
Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Administration and Human Resource.

Qualifications and Experience
Holder of “O” level Secondary Education with Basic certificate in Records Management
Salary ScaleOSHA-Scale 3

Electrical Inspector (Four Posts)

Areas: Arusha, Dodoma, Mbeya, Mtwara

Main Duties
Prepare monthly and annual reports
Planning and implementing specific electric safety programmes for both workers and management
Compile monthly and annual reports
Keep records of Inspections
Conduct orientation and induction courses to new employees Operate and maintain electrical testing equipment
Carry out electrical safety testing (polarity, insulation, earth continuity, etc) Commission workplace electrical installations
Providing electrical safety consultancy services
Carry out accidents investigations and recommend control measures Provide input for electrical surveys and researches
Provide inputs for Business plan, Strategic plan, electrical safety issues Prepare articles on electrical safety
Attend meetings/seminars/symposia on electrical safety
Provide input to Public Relations Office on electrical safety issues to be delivered to media, Government agencies, workers and management’
Interpret scientific data collected during investigations and recommend appropriate control methods
Conduct follow up inspections to ensure corrective measures have been implemented
Carry out annual electrical safety compliance
Recognize, evaluate and control workplace electrical hazards
Review existing and current Occupational safety and health literature on electrical health and safety
Collect and prepare appropriate documentation of data and information for the scope of investigation, findings, conclusions and recommendations
Prepare citations, propose penalties, and determine abetment schedule for identified violations
Participate in the court proceedings on electrical safety matters
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution

    Plant Inspector (Two Posts)

    Areas: Arusha, Mwanza

    Main Duties
    Carry out general work place inspections Conduct plant inspection/risk assessment Prepare monthly and annual reports
    Planning and implementing specific plant and safety programmes for both workers and management
    Compile monthly and annual reports Keep records of Inspections Conduct orientation and induction courses to new employees Providing plant safety consultancy services
    Carry out accidents investigations and recommend control measures Provide input for plant surveys and researches
    Provide inputs for Business plan, Strategic plan, ergonomics issues
    Provide input to Public Relations Office on plant safety issues to be delivered to media, Government agencies, workers and management
    Interpret scientific data collected during investigations and recommend appropriate control methods
    Conduct follow up inspections to ensure corrective measures have been implemented
    Scrutinize and approve drawings and plans for plants
    Carry out annual plant safety compliance
    Recognize, evaluate and control workplace mechanical hazards
    Review existing and current Occupational safety and health literature on mechanical safety and health
    Collect and prepare appropriate documentation of data and information for the scope of investigation, findings, conclusions and recommendations
    Prepare citations, propose penalties, and determine abetment schedule for identified violations
    Participate in the court proceedings on ergonomics matters as witness
    Qualifications and Experience
    Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related qualification from a recognized Institution
    Salary Scale: OSHA-Scale 6

    Industrial Hygiene Inspector (Three Posts)

    Areas: Dodoma, Mbeya, Mwanza

    Main Duties
    Carry out general work place inspections
    Carry out work environment measurements (heat/cold stress, noise, light, dust, gases, fumes, aerosol, mist, vapour, radiation, indoor air quality, ventilation, efficiency etc.)
    Prepare monthly and annual reports
    Conduct and environmental control trainings to workers and          management
    Operate and maintain work environment measuring equipment
    Compile monthly and annual reports
    Conduct orientation and induction courses to new employees
    Provide input for and environmental control surveys and researches
    Provide inputs for Business plan, Strategic plan, Occupational safety and health issues Prepare articles on and environmental control
    Recognize, evaluate and control workplace hazards
    Provide input to Public Relations Office on and environmental control issues to be delivered to media, Government agencies, workers and management
    Interpret scientific data collected during investigations and recommend appropriate control methods
    Operate technical equipment for obtaining samples
    Conduct follow up inspections to ensure corrective measures have been implemented Review documents from stakeholders
    Review existing and current Occupational safety and health literature
    Prepare citations, propose penalties, and determine abetment schedule for identified violations
    Qualifications and Experience
    Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health Sciences or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
    Salary Scale OSHA-Scale 6

    Human Resources Officer I (One Post) Head Office

    Main Duties
    To handle pension and other terminal benefit schemes
    To develop annual master leave chart/roster/plan and enforce adherence to the same
    To deal with staff welfare matters such as sport and games, canteen, burial services and any other welfare matters required .for members of staff.
    To coordinate training needs assessment and prepare staff training (development) programme for the organization (To prepare manpower planning and training programs) To prepare training progress reports quarterly
    To coordinate awareness programs on HIVIAIDS Prevention and combating of corruption and gender issues
    To draft HR and Admin reports for submission to Board, Management, and workers management meetings as appropriate.
    To assist in evaluation of the performance of the employees in his department.
    Qualifications and Experience
    Holder of a University Degree or Advanced Diploma with bias in Public Administration, Human Resource, Personnel Management, Industrial relations.

    Medical Officer II (Three Posts)

    Main Duties and Responsibilities
    Take part in specific occupational health programmes for both workers and management Provide input for occupational health surveys and researches e.g by preparing articles on OHS
    Provide inputs for Business plan, strategic plan on Occupational medicine issues
    Provide input to Public Relation Office on occupational medicine issues to be delivered to media, Government agencies, workers and management
    Interpret scientific data collected during investigations and recommend appropriate control methods
    Ensure compliance with set standards and guideline in occupational health services at workplaces
    Provide effective measures to protect those who are vulnerable such as disabled persons and pregnant or nursing women at workplaces.
    Carry out health examinations and health surveillance of workers to establish and maintain database on health status of workers in different workplace settings for use in occupational health management
    Conduct risk assessments and general inspections at workplaces and identify work conditions that contribute to the overall ill health of workers and suggest improvement measure by finding root causes
    Participate in assessment of workers disability as a result of occupational illnesses and injuries for the purpose of worker compensation and or rehabilitate programmes
    Provide advice on workers rehabilitation programmes for workers with work related problems such as disabilities to regain their normal health status
    Investigate and report on occupational accidents and occupational diseases
    Monitor and detect occupational disease or conditions with regard to prevalence in known and unknown activities
    Conduct follow up inspections to ensure corrective measures have been implemented. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Head (Occupational Medicine)
    Qualifications and Experience
    Bachelor Degree in Medicine or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
    Salary Scale:Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the OSHA Salary Scale- OSHA-Scale 7.
