Our client, the Trustees of Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) established under the National Parks Act, Cap. 282 of the 2002, Revised Edition of the Laws of Tanzania is responsible for managing and regulating the use of areas designated as National Parks so as to preserve the country’s heritage, encompassing natural and cultural resources. Currently, TANAPA manages fifteen (15) national Parks which are scattered all over the country.
TANAPA is seeking to recruit dynamic, strategic, experienced and qualified Tanzanians with strong credentials to fill the positions of Marketing Manager; Infrastructural Development Manager; Investments Manager; Information and Communication Technology Manager; Veterinary Services Manager; and Commercial Services Manager.

Investments Manager (IM)

 Job Ref:TNPIIM/09/13
Position Summary:

To identify potential investments and promote partnerships and joint ventures for the new projects” Further, the incumbent will be charged with conducting market research on the available opportunities and develop business plans for exploring those opportunities.
Reporting tothe Director, Planning and Development Projects,key duties and responsibilities will include:
Identifying and advising on potential investments by conducting feasibility studies for new projects and develop business plan;
Conducting market research, identify market trends and opportunities and adjust business plans accordingly;
Identifying and promoting joint ventures/ partnerships with potential investors;
Developing and implementing investment management strategies;
Monitoring and evaluating performance of TANAPA investments ventures;
Advising management on risk mitigation strategies in relation to investments;
Developing/revising investment policies as need arises;
Advising management on joint ventures and partnership opportunities available; and
Conducting performance appraisal of staff directly reporting to the respective department.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Economics, or Business Administration (Finance Option) from a recognized institution;
At least eight years of working experience in the relevant field, three of which should be in a senior position;
Proficiency in Microsoft applications.

 

Infrastructure Development Manager (IDM)

 Job Ref:TNP/ID”M/09/13 Position Summary:
To encourage proper usage of the parks infrastructure, supervise new constructions projects, and handle all maintenance and repair activities of the infrastructure.
Reporting to Director of Planning and Development Projects, key duties and responsibilities will include:
Supervising and overseeing the functions and performance of Works Department;
Setting out standards and design specifications for infrastructure works in the parks;
Formulating and reviewing procedures to ensure that the park’s infrastructure are systematically maintained to the required standards;
Advising the Management on all engineering undertakings;
Overseeing the implementation of construction projects in the park;
Participating and ensuring that bidding documents related to engineering activities are constantly updated and reviewed;
Preparing technical reports for all infrastructural development projects undertaken by TANAPA;
Liaising with external stakeholders in all engineering matters to ensure conformity to the national standards/policies;
Preparing proposals for write-off of assets for the Management and the Board of Trustees;
Participating in the planning and preparation of Good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) and Environmental Impact assessment (EIA’s) Action Plans for engineering department;
Conducting on-job training for engineering staff in the organisation; and
Conducting performance appraisal of the staff directly reporting to the respective department.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Masters of Science degree in Civil, Mechanical or Construction Engineering from a recognized Institution;
Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Registration Board (ERB);
At least eight years of working experience in the relevant field, three of which should be in a Senior position;
Proficiency in Microsoft applications

Marketing Manager

 Position Description:

Position Summary: To implement the parks marketing plan and carrying out market studies and surveys on tourist’s satisfaction and needs. In addition the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring participation in international tourism to broadcast the tourism products in Tanzania and explore income generating opportunities in collaboration with other stakeholders.
Reporting to theDirector of Tourism and Marketing, the key duties and responsibilities will include;
Preparing and implementing the marketing plan;
Carrying out market studies from within and outside the country;
Advising tour operators and hotel service providers on changing of tariffs and fees in advance and sensitise them on the need for change.
Exploiting all tourism income-generating opportunities and prepare project proposals in collaboration with the planning department;
Monitoring fee structure in neighbouring countries and set user fees that are competitive, in order to attract visitors to Tanzania Parks.
Conducting visitor’s satisfaction and needs surveys and make use of results to develop promotion materials and strategies;
Preparing and disseminate marketing information materials such as brochures, calendars, posters, etc;
Coordinating and participating in international tourism shows;
Collaborating with other wildlife institutions to share visitor’s experiences in terms of needs and wants;
Training marketing staff and equipping them with appropriate skills; and
Conducting performance appraisal of staff directly reporting to the respective department.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Marketing/International Business Option);
Postgraduate Diploma in Wildlife Management will be an added advantage;
Proficiency in Microsoft applications;
At least eight years of working experience in the relevant field, three of which should be in a senior position.

  Information and Communication Technology Manager

 Job Ref: TNPIICTM/09113 Position Summary:
To ensure ICT standards and guidelines in place are implemented accordingly. The incumbent will also be responsible for supervising the implementation of ICT Strategy towards the achievement of corporate strategic goals.
Reporting toDirector, ICT key duties and responsibilities will include:
Ensuring that joint ICT standards, guidelines (policies) are developed and implemented within TANAPA;
Ensuring the development and implementation of ICT strategy;
Ensuring that ICT contributes positively towards achievement of the Corporate strategic goals;
Ensuring that the network is operational and appropriate back – up protocols are implemented;
Establishing and managing the technical network architecture that will support the implementation of an Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) and other applications;
Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures relating to security, confidentiality and data protection;
Ensuring that security and integrity of information is maintained and information sharing complies with the best practice standards;
Ensuring that all software’s are licensed and that both software’s and hardware’s are efficiently managed;
Managing the implementation of ICT systems and ensure high quality delivery of services to the satisfaction of all users;
Developing budget estimates of resources (time, money, manpower, etc) ;
Ensuring coordination and implementation of the training programmes for ICT courses for TANAPA staff ;
Maintaining good relationships with vendors and other external service providers; and
Conducting performance appraisal of staff directly reporting to the respective department.
Coordinating the implementation of corporate veterinary services;
Developing, disseminating and implementing veterinary policies regarding animal intervention;
Identifying wildlife diseases within national parks ecosystems through independent and collaborative studies;
Advising Management and stakeholders on management of diseases and outbreaks;
Establishing disease surveillance and investigation network and maintaining a centralized tissue and blood sample bank for TANAPA;
Coordinating and conducting investigation of wildlife disease outbreaks in and outside national parks, in liaison with district authorities;
Providing technical support for intervention and translocation of rare mammals;
Providing training and educational materials for TANAPA staff and adjacent communities;
Preparing budget for veterinary services department.
Conducting performance appraisal of the staff directly reporting to the respective department; and
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
At least eight years of working experience in the field of information and communication technology, three of which should be in a senior position;
Specialized certification in ICT.


    Veterinary Services Manager

    Position Summary:
    To develop and coordinate all veterinary wildlife activities including identification and control measures for wildlife diseases and provide technical support for translocation of rare mammal’s. Further, the incumbent will be charged with educating the general public on wildlife conservation practices.
    Reporting toDirector of Conservation, key duties and responsibilities will include:
    Key Qualifications and Experience:
    Master’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine or Wildlife Veterinary Science from a recognized institution;
    Postgraduate Diploma in Wildlife Management will be an added advantage;
